"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt amount us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:14). The glory that Jesus manifested was not reflected glory, but was in fact the glory of God. "Glory" is from the Greek "doxa" meaning "dignity, honor, worthiness, position". "Word" is from the Greek "Logos" meaning "something said (including the thought), by implication a topic (subject of discourse) the mental faculty or motive, computation; the Divine Expression". Many companies use a logo as a combining form as a compact expression for instant recognition of the entire said company. The Word as God is the Divine Expression of God in manifesting Himself to creature and creation.

God wanted to manifest His glory to His creation and chose the office of His Word (Divine Expression) as the means. "And the Word was made flesh." (John 1:14a). The Word was God (Theos en). The Word "was made flesh" or "sarxegeneto"; that is, the Word as God was made flesh. "Flesh" is "sarx" which is the whole man: spirit, soul, and body. "Flesh" connotes man "mortal and dying". Flesh speaks of man tainted with sin and the Word will be sent of God in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, to condemn sin in the flesh. The true Word which is God will take on a true human nature and dwell or tabernacle in a body of flesh just like ours. The Word was put into the condition and place of mankind. As spoken by Zechariah: "Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: For lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD." (Zechariah 2:10). The Word is now married to human nature in an indivisible joining of the two natures: divine and human.

"The Word was made flesh and dwelled among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:14).  The "as" in the above verse is not used of glory as being similar to that of God's glory, but was of a certainty a glory that became Him as the Word made flesh. This is the "only begotten of the Father" or "only begotten Son of God". Christ as a man was not begotten at all, for no earthly father is alluded to. The resurrection from the dead is not the "only begotten" since there will be many others who will be resurrected from the dead, following the "firstbegotten from the dead". This is not adoption either, for if He is adopted as the Son of God, then He is not "begotten" of the Father. There are many adopted sons as the elect of God. He is not called the "only begotten" by means of the office as magistrates are called the sons of God meaning Jesus was a Son of God only in a figurative sense and not really the Son of God. God's only begotten Son is the Son of the same divine nature as Himself and is the "only one" or "Yachiyd" as the unique, sole, solitary one; viz. the Word.

"No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him." (John 1:18). When various people saw God's face in the Old Testament, they did not see the Divine Presence of the Everlasting Spirit, but they saw the angel of His presence or the angel of the LORD which was a temporary manifestation of the Word. But now the Word will take a permanent abode or dwelling for God's manifestation as the Son of God. In so doing, the Word in the Person of the Son of God will begin the full manifestation of God in truth and mercy. The glory of God will be seen in Jesus' miracles, His doctrines, His transfiguration, in the cross, death, resurrection, and glorification.

Jesus' ministry was a ministry of glory as the ministration of the Spirit. Jesus shown the ministration of righteousness which exceeded the glory of the law. Why? "Now the Lord is that Spirit." (2 Corinthians 3:17a). Jesus is the Spirit of God! There is not another. The Spirit of God was joined with humanity in the Word made flesh. The Word made flesh is not a Christophany or Theophany, but is the literal permanent abode of God in flesh. "For God, who commanded the light ot shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." (2 Corinthians 4:6).

The light of revelation is shining more and more unto the perfect day when we shall all behold the glory of the LORD Jesus as the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS." For all shall know him, from the least to the greatest. "For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, As the waters cover the sea." (Habakkuk 2:14). We will all understand and have the knowledge that Jesus Christ is the express image of His Person as the only wise God and Saviour. Jesus is not a reflection of the light, but is the Essence and Substance of the Light. The Word made flesh allowed the humiliation of Jesus Christ for sufferings, temptations, and ultimate death on the cross as a man. In the glorification of Jesus Christ, the Word has ascended up where he was before with God, but this time in union with the man, the flesh; that is, He is the Word made flesh which has ascended above all things, all power in heaven and earth being given to him. The man Christ Jesus is the Word of God. "And he was clothed with a vesture dipt in blood: and his name is called the Word of God." (Revelation 19:13). Jesus is the only true God and eternal life.
