The Church Entering into Apostolic Authority (Prelude to The New Thing)

"And how shall they preach, except they be sent?"  Romans 10:15a

The revivals of the 50's were primarily focused upon the office of the prophets with names like William Branham, Asa A. Allen, Jack Coe, etc. Most will agree that William Marion Branham was the spear head for the prophetic move of the 50’s healing revival with signs, miracles, and wonders. However, the church is experiencing a shift from the season of Pentecost to the season of Tabernacles which begins with the Feast of Trumpets as the ministry voice of Jesus fulfills the final testimony of Jesus; the gospel of Jesus Christ to be preached into all the world as a witness to all nations, and then the end comes.

The office of the apostles is being restored to and in the church which will fulfill the season of Tabernacles in apostolic revelation. Of all the offices of the five-fold ministry, the primary office is that of the apostle. The book of Acts is not the Acts of the Pastors, neither is it the Acts of the Prophets; but is in truth, the Acts of the Apostles being the revelation of Jesus Christ as the apostle’s doctrine. The believers abode in the apostles’ doctrine of Christ. Acts of the Apostles is not attributed to any man that is superior in rank to that of any other, but is through, in, and by the Holy Ghost. It was Peter as an apostle that saw the revelation of Christ, the Son of the living God, which Jesus proclaimed would be the rock upon which His church would be built.

This will rub some pastors the wrong way, but it is the office of the apostles as the primary office in the testimony of Jesus. The hands of Zerubbabel laid the foundation of the house (the church), so his hands would also finish it. Zerubbabel means “descended or come out of Babel or Babylon”. Babylon is not Rome, neither the Roman Catholic Church, but Babylon is the external church in the earth which at this present hour has confusion within that will have only a remnant that will come to the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. The Holy Ghost will lead and guide the body of Christ into all truth; not part of the truth, but all truth. These are the ones that the Book of the Revelation refers to as the ones that have the testimony of Jesus which is the spirit of prophecy. Can you see the apostles in this verse? “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.” (Zechariah 4:9). Apostle is “sent one”.

Apostles certainly have nothing to glory in, but in Christ alone. It is noteworthy that the entire body of Christ as the church abides in the doctrine of the apostles which at this present hour are bringing fresh revelation in the things of faith to the body of Christ to be received until the work of God is experienced in bringing the church into a perfect image of Himself. This is the primary reason that the devil has attacked the office of the apostles first, making them almost extinct in the body of Christ with the primary office being that of the pastor rather than that of the apostle. No wonder we are in the shape that we are in. But God is doing a work and who will let it?

Jesus used the office of the apostles first to establish the revelation of Himself as the Apostle and High Priest of the profession of our faith. Jesus as the Apostle saw and spoke only what He saw the Father “say and do”; so the apostles of this modern day will speak and hear only what our Father says and does, walking in the light as He is in the Light. There are many things in the Word of God that proves the apostolic revelation is ongoing and not a thing of the past. Even though the Word of God is forever settled in heaven, there are new things of faith that must be constantly reached for in order for a believer to become fully mature in God. Notice the following. "... The mystery of Christ, which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;" (Ephesians 3:4,5). Notice that Paul did not say that the mystery of Christ…as it is now revealed unto us, but did say as it is revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. Some will state that the apostles and prophets are equal in rank, but it is not so. We are to strive for excellence, not competition which is of the devil. The mystery of Christ will ultimately be revealed to all the saints and is not exclusive to apostles and prophets, but the apostles and prophets are the major offices used by God to pioneer new revelations or restored truths that will alter the course of the entire church.

Whereas it is the duty of pastors, teachers, and evangelists to preach proven truths, the apostolic and prophetic ministries bring in the testimony of Jesus as the spirit of prophecy; greater revelation of Jesus Christ flowing dynamically in and through the church that is alive and well. It is John who as an apostle takes the little book in the revelation of Jesus Christ who must again prophesy before many peoples, nations, and tongues, and kings. This is not another gospel, but a greater revelation of the same gospel of Jesus Christ; a greater revelation of the name of Jesus. This is the white stone wherein a new name is written that only he knows that receives it. But who wants the new name? The Word of God written upon his vesture dipped in blood with a name that only He knows Himself. Who will receive it and know God Himself? This is the apostles’ doctrine, not a pastor’s doctrine, not a prophets’ doctrine. It is the doctrine of Jesus Christ who is our Apostle who works in the framework of His gifts to men until we all come into the unity of the faith, unto a perfect man.

So in spite of the fact that the Scriptures imply that apostles and prophets together form a categorical level that receives a "special" degree of revelation, yet it is not the prophet, but the apostle by the unction of the Spirit who decides if such revelation shall endure as the revealing truth to the churches; the testimony of Jesus, the spirit of prophecy. Therefore, Ephesians 3:4, 5 is a statement that denotes the high revelatory nature of the two offices of apostle and prophet, but is not an indicator of an alleged "equal" rank of the two ministries.

The apostle is the wise master-builder, being the primary office which our Lord Jesus uses to influx present truth in doctrine and the knowledge of Christ being progressive until we as the church have received all truth. The foundation and finished work is Jesus and Jesus only. It is only when we as the body of Christ start receiving and working in the framework of God in government shall we go on into all truth; for we as particular members of one body need each other to function as Jesus Christ come in the flesh.

The office of the apostle is the most misunderstood office of the five fold ministry and the most undesirable. It is as the thumb on the hand which is the shortest and stubbiest of all members, but it the most beneficial in getting work done as it works in conjunction with each and all fingers of the hand; some one at a time, some in harmony. Paul stated that God set forth the apostles last as spectacle of men and angels, despised of the world.

My word to you as a believer in Jesus Christ is to pray and seek God for the work of the ministry; the ministry voice of Jesus in and through you as a member of the body of Christ, the church. Yes, Jesus is preparing you, getting you ready for the greatest revealing of Himself in and through you, as a believer. Strap in and tighten your seatbelt for the great ride that is ahead of you. There is great glory ahead, the greatest of all glories, in the Feast of Feasts, where you have special reservations to come and dine in the kingdom.

Do not remain at ease in Zion, neither accept that you have all truth at this present hour, but be willing to receive all that Jesus has for you; not only by your pastor, (which your pastor is not some local man over an assembly, but is the Chief Shepherd or Chief Pastor of your soul), but by Jesus Christ who has afforded you some five different and distinct offices in the five-fold ministry for your perfection and full maturity.

If you are an apostle or prophet in training, do not be discouraged because some congregations are not mature enough or deep enough in the Word of God to receive you. Neither let anyone knock your delivery or pulpit etiquette because they do not understand your call. Seek the Lord Jesus and let him be the One that you seek to please and not man. God will certainly give all of us this great treasure which is sealed up with Himself to be revealed in these last days.

God bless you and yours in the present work that our Lord Jesus is performing in and through His body, the church. Even though dark and perilous times are ahead for America, God’s glorious light shines and will shine the brightest in the darkness of obscurity. So let our light shine.
